Record Breaking Busy Bee

Last Sunday saw the number of attendees at the Community Quilts Busy Bee reach 39. This included one first-time visitor and two second-time visitors. I was amazed at the number of quilters who turned up at Alexander Park Craft House in Menora on a day that reached 36.7 degrees. It was a little cooler inside the hall with the fans going at full speed and one of the industrial size evaporative coolers going most of the day. However, it just proved to me how keen many quilters are to attend and help to make quilts for donating to the community. As it was so busy I didn’t get the chance to take photos other than during the show ‘n’ tell which is always the highlight of the day.

I looked back at my records over the past four years and the previous highest number was 37 in Mar 2024 (on a much cooler day I’m sure). The numbers have certainly been higher overall this year than in previous years. I was interested to see that the lowest attendance was 14 in March 2022, not sure what was happening then! I’m sure the Busy Bees in 2025 will continue to attract many quilters and I look forward to sharing the day with those that attend. There is no Busy Bee in January, so the first one is on 23rd February 2025. For more information, check out the Community Quilts page on the website.
